Secondary Survey

The secondary survey of a victim is a check for injuries or other problems that may not be life threatening; however, still need to be treated.

If the victim is conscious, then it is important to interview him/her to assess the condition further.  The purpose of interviewing the victim is to obtain as much information as possible about the victim as well as understanding the cause of an accident, whether the victim is experiencing a pain.  This will be helpful to the EMS personnel and the emergency room staff.

At this time, perform a check of the entire body to ensure there are no injuries (our First Aid course covers in details various types of injuries and a recommended treatment).
